Most patients presenting to our proctology clinic are complaining due to haemorrhoids or piles. However, it should be noted that although haemorrhoids represent the most common condition treated by a proctologist, there are a number of other diseases of the anus, some of which are more severe or dangerous, including cancer. Unfortunately, with a few exceptions, it is impossible to make an accurate diagnosis based solely on the symptoms.

We recommend to make an appointment if one of the following occurs:
01. Uncontrolled flatulence
Difficulty controlling gas and stool passage (uncontrolled flatulence, soiling of underwear).
02. Pain & Burning Eensation
Pain or burning sensation after a bowel movement, anal itching or discomfort; Discomfort after bowel movement is a very subjective sensation, and is often felt as the presence a foreign body, incomplete defecation or tenesmus.
03. Constipation
Constipation or bowel movement problems
04. Skin lesions
Occurrence of skin lesions or thickenings near or in the anus, including those painless but palpable
05. Bleeding
Bleeding during a bowel movement or red coloured water in the toilet after a bowel movement
06. Noticeable changes
A change in the current bowel movement habits; in practice, this means that if your regular bowel movements were replaced by more frequent or loose stools, your bowel movement rhythm has changed.
